"I Hate New York"
I was thinking about this as I walked back to my dorm after Japanese class. I hate New York City. I said these words in response to our thought exercise because, "my idea of showing someone around the city is to
leave the city." We can be a little more precise, and a little less absolute, about this. I don't hate New York City in its entirety, I hate everything it's known for. I've never been a fan of touristy things, especially not of being a tourist.
In fact, the only things I like about New York are the things it has in common with other cities: board game shops, import shops, specialty stores, cat cafes, pubs, and a diverse selection of local restaurants. I've shown many people around the city at this point, and I've been to Central Park too many times to count. After all that, all I want to do is get a T-Swirl crepe and go to bed. Being excited about New York has gotten exhausting.
